Check it OUT! We have 2 Online courses!
I am excited to share with you two online courses: Psychosocial Support and Community Wellness (PSSCW) starting September 15, and Psychological First Aid (PFA) starting October 6.
Not to bore you with too many details but here are a few!
Our PSSCW and PFA courses are designed for people working in the “field” who can share real “on the ground” experiences. Maybe you feel like you are “in the trenches”, wanting to facilitate healing and change and peace in communities in distress. If this is you, check out what we are offering.
These programs are based on 30 years field experience in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Japan, Liberia, the Middle East and Mexico. Each module will lead you through activities that help you find ways to:
- Improve community connections
- Identify paths of resilience to address local problems
- Support attitude shifts in how community members manage the stresses of daily life
- Sensitively explore spiritual connections
- Help a community discover how they can be part of positive changes in their world
We call our work Community Wellness, because it is founded on public health approaches that recognize that:
Most illnesses are preventable, including various types of mental illness.
Individual wellness is grounded in the community.
The community itself contains many solutions to its own health needs and already has devised many techniques to encourage resilience and wellness.
We are offering these courses through the CoronaPlaza.LIFE platform. You are invited to join us (Donations welcome) and if you want or need certification, we offer that, too. For certification, I will warn you, there are required readings and activities. But they are interesting, timely and are designed to engage your community in the healing process.
