Aboriginal Psychotherapy

<

Shirley Turcotte, RCC, lived with and then worked on trauma for more than half a century, both as a survivor and as a trauma therapist. The daughter of a Métis Aboriginal father and a Russian Mennonite refuge mother, she used her own experiences and cultural strengths to develop ingenious, practical and spiritual ways of moving through horrendous traumatic life situations and thriving through trauma, in ways that are sometimes misunderstood in contemporary therapies. Aboriginal Focusing Oriented Therapy for complex trauma blends sound Focusing practices with traditional, ground based knowledge of wellness.
