Whether you’re just beginning or deepening your expertise, these programs will equip you with the skills to foster personal resilience and community well-being. The courses are to be taken in sequence.
The breath of mental health support is identified by the initials MHPSS (standing for Mental Health and Psychosocial Support). It is such a common acronym that one rarely sees it spelled out. Our work highlights the importance of psychosocial support. PSS is foundational to all mental health services and Focusing is a solid base for all aspects of this work.
This two-year program is designed to provide in-depth training in Focusing techniques, equipping participants with the tools to support professional growth and personal and community healing. The curriculum is divided into three foundational classes in 2025 and culminating in a training of trainers/certification course in 2026.
One can sign up for PFA, the first year, or for the full 2-year package. Because each class builds on the one before it, we won’t admit new participants after the PFA class. Click here for more information. And click here to register.
And, as with all programs at Focusing Initiatives International, we are happy to discuss payment plans and scholarships.
First, the Psychological First Aid (PFA) class lays the foundation for community wellness by developing essential listening skills. Upon completion of this course, participants can receive a certificate in PFA and Basic Focusing.
Next, with the Psychosocial Support (PSS) class, participants deepen their impact by expanding their capacity for community healing, listening and Focusing. Participants can receive a certificate in PSS and Focusing Skills.
The first year of the series ends with the class in Focusing in Community (FiC), which takes these skills to an advanced level. Participants will refine their listening and reflection techniques to become more intentional companions for others. After completing this course, participants can receive a certificate of completion in Focusing in Community.
For those ready to lead and innovate, the second year 2026 course in Community Wellness Focusing (CWF) offers the opportunity to achieve Certified Community Wellness Focusing Professional status. The skills learned in this two year course are tools for real-world impact.
